Anaphylatic Shock
SYMPTOMS. At first, you may notice agitation, itching, coughing, sneezing,
large hives, difficulty breathing and the skin may be flushed. Soon after
seeing these symptoms you may see signs of shock which include; rapid and
weak pulse, cold & clammy skin, pale skin, and sweaty palms.
CAUSES. Anaphylactic shock may be caused by allergic reaction to drugs or
insect stings. THIS IS A LIFE-AND-DEATH EMERGENCY SITUATION.
TREATMENT. SEEK MEDICAL ASSISTANCE IMMEDIATELY.
.If you can reach medical help quicker than an ambulance, do not wait for
one because death can occur in minutes.
.If caused by a bee sting, apply a cold compress to place of the sting and
also remove the stinger and venom sac.
.Attempt to slow the spread of venom by applying a tourniquet just above
the sting. You must loosen the tourniquet every four minutes.
.If a sting kit is available, follow the directions immediately.
